How to Download Games on a TI-84 Evo

The TI-84 Evo runs Python programs natively, so your browser can send games straight to the calculator with nothing to install and nothing to set up. Here's the whole process.

Before you start

  • Your TI-84 Evo and a USB cable
  • Chrome, Edge, or any Chromebook. Safari, Firefox, and phones can't connect to the calculator.

Installing a game

  1. Open the CalcPlex TI-84 Evo games page. It hosts free classics like Tetris, Pac-Man, Snake, 2048, and Minesweeper.
  2. Connect the calculator to your computer over USB and make sure it's powered on.
  3. Hit Connect your calculator on the games page and select the Evo in the browser popup.
  4. Press Send to calculator on whichever game you want.
  5. On the calculator: prgmPython App → pick the game and run it.

Common problems

No "Python App" under prgm

A full memory reset removes the Python App. Open TI Connect Evo, connect your calculator, and click Install OS. Once it finishes, close TI Connect Evo so it releases the calculator, then re-send your games.

The browser popup doesn't list the calculator

Check that the Evo is on and reseat the USB cable (or try another port). Close anything else that might be holding the calculator, like TI Connect Evo or a second tab of the games page. On school-managed Chromebooks, some districts block USB device access entirely, so do the install on a home computer.

A game crashes with a MemoryError

Too many programs are installed to load one into memory. Delete a few you're done with (prgmPython AppMANAGEDelete Program) and open it again. If a single game keeps failing instead, re-send it in case a transfer left a truncated copy behind.
